Knitted fabrics are divided into two categories according to the weaving method, weft knitted fabrics and warp knitted fabrics.
(1) Weft knitted fabrics often use low-elastic polyester yarn or profiled polyester yarn, nylon yarn, cotton yarn, wool yarn, etc. as raw materials, using plain stitch, variable plain stitch, rib plain stitch, double rib plain stitch, jacquard Weaves, terry weaves, etc. are woven on various weft knitting machines. It has many varieties, generally has good elastic extensibility, soft fabric, firm and wrinkle-resistant, strong hair style, easy to wash ears and quick-drying. However, its hygroscopicity is poor, the fabric is not stiff enough, and it is easy to fall off and curl, and the chemical fiber fabric is easy to fuzz, pilling and hooking. There are mainly the following varieties:
1. Polyester yarn-dyed knitted fabric: The fabric is bright in color, beautiful, with matching colors, tight and thick texture, clear weaves, and strong sense of wool, similar to wool fabric tweed style. Mainly used for men’s and women’s tops, suits, windbreakers, vests, skirts, cotton-padded jacket fabrics, children’s clothing, etc.;
2. Polyester knitted labor fabric: This kind of fabric is tight and thick, strong and wear-resistant, firm and elastic. If the raw material is core-spun yarn containing spandex, it can be woven into elastic knitted denim with better elasticity. Trousers mainly used for men’s and women’s tops;
3. Polyester knitted wick strip fabric: The fabric has distinct unevenness, thick and plump hand feeling, good elasticity and warmth retention. Mainly used for men’s and women’s tops, suits, windbreakers, children’s clothing and other fabrics;
4. Polyester cover cotton knitted fabric: The fabric is dyed to make shirts, jackets, and sportswear fabrics. The fabric is stiff and wrinkle-resistant, strong and wear-resistant, moisture-absorbing and breathable on the body side, soft and comfortable;
5. Artificial fur stitch fabric: The fabric has a thick hand feel, soft, and good warmth retention. Depending on the variety, it is mainly used for coat fabrics, clothing linings, collars, hats, etc. Artificial fur is also woven by warp knitting.
6. Velvet knitted fabric: The fabric feels soft, thick, strong and wear-resistant, with dense piles and soft color. Mainly used as outerwear fabrics, collars or hat materials, etc. It can also be made by warp knitting, for example: warp knitted looped pile fabric;
7. Hong Kong-style knitted woolen fabric: It not only has the smooth, soft and bulky feel of cashmere fabric, but also has the characteristics of soft luster of silk fabric, good drape, no shrinkage, and air permeability. Mainly used as spring, autumn and winter fashion fabrics.
2) Warp knitted fabrics often use polyester, nylon, vinylon, polypropylene and other synthetic filaments as raw materials, but also use cotton, wool, silk, hemp, chemical fiber and their blended yarns as raw materials. It has the advantages of good longitudinal dimensional stability, stiff fabric, low dispersibility, no curling, and good air permeability. But its lateral extension, elasticity and softness are not as good as weft knitted fabrics. There are mainly the following types:
1. Polyester warp-knitted fabric: The fabric is flat, bright in color, and can be divided into thick and thin. The thin type is mainly used as shirt and skirt fabric; the medium and thick type can be used as men’s and women’s clothing, windbreaker, tops, suits, trousers and other fabrics;
2. Warp-knitted pile fabric: mainly used as winter coats, windbreakers, tops, trousers and other fabrics. The fabric has good drape, easy to wash, quick-drying, and non-ironing, but static electricity accumulates during use and is easy to absorb dust;
3. Warp-knitted mesh fabric: The mesh fabric is light and thin, has good elasticity and air permeability, and feels smooth and soft. It is mainly used as a summer shirt fabric for men and women;
4. Warp-knitted velvet fabric: The surface is densely fluffy, and it feels thick, plump, soft, flexible, and has good warmth retention. It is mainly used as winter clothing and children’s clothing fabrics;
5. Warp-knitted loop fabric: this kind of fabric has full and thick hand feeling, firm and thick cloth body, good elasticity, moisture absorption, good warmth retention, stable loop structure, and good wearing performance. It is mainly used for sportswear and lapel T-shirts. , Pajamas, children’s clothing and other fabrics.
